Conference Topics

ICCHP by its nature has a wide area of topics involved and any list would be incomplete. Therefore the topics are outlined by the ICCHP cube. It demonstrates the problems associated with information technology for people with special needs in the areas of communication, medicine, environment, and assistive-technology and their relationship to educational, psychological, sociological and legal fields. To meet the concrete demands of people with special needs general topics are defined as follows:

Accessible Communication and Information

means removing barriers and to make accessible the world of communication, interaction and co-operation to/by/with people with special needs. Information technology has to respect the needs of all users and work out programs, tools and configurations to avoid, to overcome or even to prevent barriers.

Designing the Environment for All

means free and open access in living, working, and communicating for people with special needs. Traffic, public buildings, work stations and surroundings should fit with these aims. Programs on mobility training and architectural community conceptions are invited to be presented. Education and training as well as accessibility at the job will be another important issue.

Medicine

means to encourage medical scientists and practitioners to define the necessary technical research and development for the support of people with special needs and to describe undesirable technical developments and trends. Moreover, perspectives of computer-supported diagnostics, home care, therapy and training and rehabilitation are valid topics.

Assistive Technology

means that information technology itself is one important means to support the integration of people with special needs into society and business. In addition, the development of useful special tools depends on reflection and invention of theoretical and visionary aspects of rehabilitation technology. Therefore, paper submissions dealing with research and theory activities in concepts, designs and implementations are highly encouraged.

IT in Special and Inclusive Education

focuses on all aspects of the application of IT at all levels of training and teaching.  IT offers a lot of new opportunities for the integration of people with disabilities but also increases the complexity of educational processes due fast changes in technology. Specialists in the field are invited to contribute papers discussing pedagogical, technical as well as social aspects of this important field.

Special Thematic Sessions (STS)

give a comprehensive overview to very specific topics related to the general topics above. Experts are invited to outline, organise and chair their own session. A list and description of STS is available at the STS-page.
