Young Researchers Consortium:
"The Next Generation of AT Experts"

This two-day pre-conference activity is designed to develop and inspire young researchers in the field of Assistive Technology. The activity will allow selected young researchers to interact with their peers and experienced AT researchers and developers in an informal, yet structured, environment. Young researchers will give papers and parallel workshop groups will discuss these. In addition, there will be presentations given by experienced researchers on the history and future of AT research, together with workshops that aim to synthesize these presentations and the ideas of the young researchers into an agenda for the future of AT research.

Young researchers will typically be under 35 years of age and tackling their first or second major AT research or development project. They may be based in universities, research institutes, companies or other organizations. Papers will be published in a separate volume and may include collaborators as authors, but the young researcher must be the first author and must have written the paper. The best three papers (judged on presentation at the pre-conference session) will be awarded a prize and be presented to the full ICCHP conference at a plenary session, which will also give the young researchers’ views of the AT research agenda.

ICCHP will cover participation fee and accommodation costs of the 16 selected young researchers.

Extended abstracts on the work, a recommendation letter by the supervisor and a short CV should be submitted till March 3, 2006.
