ICCHP 2010

12th International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs

July 14-16, 2010, Vienna University of Technology, Austria

Pre-Conference July 12-13, 2010

Web Accessibility and Ageing

There has been extensive effort on development of guidelines for accessibility of the Web for people with disabilities. While these guidelines address many requirements needed by the ageing population, the relevance of these guidelines to the needs of the ageing population is not well understood by many organizations representing and/or serving the needs of the ageing community nor by technology developers. There is a need to better understand the relationship and overlap between the Web accessibility guidelines for people with disabilities, and the Web accessibility requirements of the ageing population.
This Special Thematic Session invites researchers, experts, and users to present on the topic of Web accessibility and ageing-related functional limitations. We invite presentations on the following areas:

  • guidelines addressing Web accessibility requirements of the ageing population
  • studies and research on Web accessibility requirements of the ageing population
  • studies and research on design and authoring practices for the ageing population
  • studies and research on business benefits for inclusion of the ageing population
