Social Innovation

back to the List of STS

Social innovation is a concept going back to the 70ies of last century. Social innovation is seen as innovation in social fields but also as a process which could guide the work in social fields.

eInclusion and eAccessibility by nature have a strong relation to social issues. These areas underpin a significant societal change due to the transition into the information society. All areas where ICT gets used and due to this almost all aspects of our lives are subject to this transformation process. This makes traditionaly stable societal structures fluent, subject to change and therefore also for social inovation.

eInclusion and eAccessibility are strongly related to this technical but also the consequent societal changes. Societal structures which become fluent open points of access for accessibility and inclusion.

All this makes social innovation a concept, a strategy or even a tool for actors in the field.

This session wants to outline concepts and strategies related to social innovation which could support a more holistic implementation of eInclusion and eAccessibility.

Researchers, developers and managers are invited to submit contributions outlining potential, impact and examples of social innovation in eInclusion and eAccessibility - from developping ideas towards successfull and sustainable take up of results.
